Clinique Acne Solutions™ Clarifying Lotion is very good for skin that has acne. It prevents acne and fights it. It is also very gentle, softens and cleanses the skin even more. It also has an exfoliator function. Most importantly, it does not dry the skin.
I purchased this as part of Clinique’s 3-Step system Anti Blemish which as suggested specifically targets acne-prone, oily skin. The ‘Clarifying Lotion’ is step 2 in the system, the ‘toner’, which I thought I’d spell out as initially the word ‘lotion’ to me suggested more of a moisturiser.
The product comes in a simplistic plastic bottle, which is standard format for most toners and I like as it allows you to see how much product you have left. Formula-wise the toner has an alcohol-y, chemical smell but it’s not too overpowering or.off-putting.
I apply this after cleansing morning and night using a cotton pad. For an acne-treatment product I like that the formula doesn’t sting my skin like others I have tried. While I wouldn’t say it necessary ‘unclogs pores’ or by itself would ‘reduce redness’, I think it’s a good toner for oily skin. After using it my skin felt clean but not overtight. Like all toners though it definately pays to moisturise afterwards.
What I love about this toner is that your skin feels so clean after using it, makes your skin so clear and acne free. The only down side that I see is that they don’t sell a larger bottle! I go through the toner much faster then the other two steps, so a larger option would be nice. Also if you are going to use the three step I recommend using the bar soap instead of the foam pump!
The product lasts me about 3-4 months and I don’t mind the price since the toner doesn’t irritate my skin. I would repurchase this and it’s totally safe for acne-prone skin, at least for me! If you’re not sure if this is for you, Clinique does starter packs that contain the cleanser, toner and moisturiser which are a pretty decent size and allows you to try them out to see if you like them.
